Yoga trance dance combines gentle yoga postures with rhythmic movement and conscious breathing. Dance and yoga movements are designed to ease body stiffness, open your body and mind to new paths of movement, thought and spirit. Anyone of any age is welcome to explore movement in conjunction with the monthly reminder that a fresh start is always possible.
Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing or yoga/dancewear. Yoga mats are desirable but not necessary. If you don’t have a yoga mat, please bring a towel or small rug for sitting on the floor.
Pot-luck meal will follow an hour of dance and yoga. Please bring your own beverage and a dish to share. Paper plates, napkins and plastic utensils will be provided.
6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 ChiroJava 114 S. Austin St. See www.chirojava.com for directions.

Summer
Belly dance classes will continue through July 23, then we'll take a break until after Labor Day. (I will be taking my yoga teacher intensive at Barsana Dham in Austin and launching another academic year at TLU. Whew!)
The plan is to begin Sept. 10 and run through Oct. 22, take a one week break, and continue from Nov. 5 - Dec. 17.
Choreography class will learn a veil dance.
For those who can't live through an entire month without dancing in a community, look for more information about the New Moon Celebration planned for the evening of Sunday, Aug. 12. This will feature gentle yoga and trance dancing and, I hope, a pot-luck supper afterward. I'm planning to continue hosting New Moon Celebrations in the months to come.

Dancing for Frida
Everyone had a great time Saturday dancing for (with?) Frida. I hope she was with us in spirit! Mary's paintings and drawings brought her into the coffee shop for sure.

Thanks to Frank, April's husband (that's her in the middle) for the wonderful pictures. Darlene, April and Jan danced bravely, as did everyone who takes class who attended the second show. Some intrepid "volunteers" who have never belly danced before did a great job in the front row, too. Brava, Judy and Rebecca!

We hope to fill the Gruene Coffee Haus with too much shakin' again soon!
